Halle (Saale) has about 237,000 inhabitants and has the status of an independent city. It is part of the "metropolitan region of Saxony triangle" or "chemistry triangle".
The nearest major cities are Leipzig, about 30 km southeast, Berlin, about 130 km northeast, Dresden, about 150 km southeast and Göttingen, about 150 km west.
Halle is, among other things, the seat of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the Leopoldina. With the integrated Halle-Leipzig S-Bahn network, the marshalling yard and modernized central station, Halle an der Saale is a railway junction through which all major cities can be reached directly. Last but not least, Leipzig / Halle Airport makes the region very attractive for guests from near and far.
The Saalestadt Halle is located on the edge of the Harz foreland. Due to its central location, it is ideal for exploring the surrounding area.
The Petersberg is visible from afar and is the highest point in our latitude up to the Urals.
The idyllic Saale valley leads through the Brachwitz Alps, on the banks of which there are many sights to discover.
Boat trips take place daily in the summer months.
The nearby Unstruttal, not only known for being the northernmost wine-growing region, is only an hour's drive away. Here in Burgenland, young and old can travel through different eras in numerous museums.
